The Team
Zoe Taylor
Zoe is the driving force behind Taylored Equestrian. She trained at the Yorkshire Riding Centre in 1998, where she completed and passed her BHSAI exams. She has owned and ridden a variety of horses including a young stallion (Valeur R). She has competed in Affiliated Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing and Showing as well as enjoying hunting. Since deciding to concentrate on dressage in 2001 Zoe has qualified 6 different horses for a total of 21 classes at the British Dressage National Championships and has been placed in the top ten on numerous occasions.
Through her own competition career she has realised the high level of maintenance and care that is necessary to keep horses from all disciplines in top shape. Her experience of competing her own horses has also led to successful working relationships (including sponsorship) with well respected equestrian professionals and therapists.
The idea of Taylored Equestrian started after a yearling Zoe owned suffered from a degloving injury. Charisma subsequently recovered and is now very happy with his new owner.
In December 2004 Decadence, a 3 year old warmblood, was found colicking in his stable late at night. 2 colic surgeries and 6 months later Decadence was out competing again, this time minus 12’ of his intestine however he duly qualified for the British Dressage National Championships. Through careful management Decadence has continued to have a successful competition career.
Decadence competing 4 months after double colic surgery.
Through the development of Taylored Equestrian, Zoe hopes to complement the existing equestrian services available in Shropshire and bring them all together in one place.
Sophie Edenborough
Sophie has recently graduated from the University of Bristol where she gained a BSc Honours degree in Anatomical Science with Veterinary Anatomy.
Her experience with horses began at a very young age, firstly in the showing ring before progressing to her chosen sport of show jumping. As a junior she progressed through the ranks winning gold medals for England on both 138cm and 148cm ponies. Sophie has continued to compete to a high standard as a senior whilst studying for her degree. She competes regularly at 1.30m level and has qualified for National finals for the last five years. She has also ridden work and travelled racehorses for James Unett.
VETS
The staff at Taylored Equestrian will work with your referring vet during the recovery process.
However if your vet is located too far away then our nominated Veterinary practice is Fyrnwy Equine Clinics.
Fyrnwy is a specialist equine practice with 12 vets located in the village of Baschurch (approx 3 miles away).
NUTRITIONISTS
Correct nutrition can play an important part in a horse’s recovery so the team at Taylored Equestrian assess every horse’s diet on arrival. In discussion with the owner, vet and advisors from Baileys Horse Feeds, they then devise a feeding programme which will provide optimum nutritional support during the horse’s stay at the centre as well as throughout its rehabilitation.
Loran Jowett BSc (Hons) worked in polo and eventing before gaining her Equine Science degree at Hartpury and becoming a Nutritionist with Baileys Horse Feeds. She now works with riders of all levels across the disciplines to ensure their horses get the best nutritional support possible and is an important member of the team here at Taylored Equestrian.
Caroline Dickens has been Feed Advisor for Baileys Horse Feeds throughout the North West for the last decade. Listing international riders among her clients she has also worked with Lorna to keep Zoe’s competition horses in top form either by phone or in person.
